Domestically created TV shows are generating buzz and reaching audiences around the world.
CanCon is having a resurgence.

Whether a show was produced with existing global distribution, or was sold internationally at the 11th hour, Canadian productions always aim to export. This panel will discuss how music supervisors balance needle drops with recognizability beyond our borders with authentic Canadian stories.  We will examine case studies of homegrown productions that, alongside their soundtracks, have become international sensations!

Stacey Aglok-MacDonald (co-creator, co-showrunner, executive producer North of North)

Stacey Aglok MacDonald is an Inuk film and television producer and writer from Kugluktuk, Nunavut, based in Iqaluit. She is best known for creating the hit Arctic comedy series North of North and her producing work on The Grizzlies. She co-founded the production company Red Marrow Media.

Michael has placed thousands of songs in TV shows, films and documentaries, seen and heard around the world. Michael has been working in the music/film/TV industries for 20+ years.

Tassie Cameron (showrunner and executive producer, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent)

Tassie Cameron is an award-winning screenwriter and producer, the co-founder of the Toronto-based independent production company Cameron Pictures, and is currently showrunner and executive producer on the hit series Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.

Tassie Cameron was co-creator, co-showrunner and executive producer on the comedic cop series, Pretty Hard Cases, which ran for three seasons on CBC and Amazon. Prior to this, Tassie was the showrunner/co-showrunner and executive producer on Global/Lifetime’s critically acclaimed trilogy Mary Kills People (Cameron Pictures/eOne).  She was also the creator, showrunner, and executive producer of ABC’s 2017 limited 10-part series Ten Days in the Valley (starring Kyra Sedgwick), and the co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner of the international hit series Rookie Blue, which ran for six seasons on Global and ABC. She is currently an executive producer on the new CBC comedy series Committed, produced by Cameron Pictures.

Tassie’s numerous awards include: the 2005 Gemini Award for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series, WIFT-T’s 2009 Creative Excellence Award, the WGC’s 2011 Showrunner Award, the CSA’s 2015 Margaret Collier Award for Lifetime Achievement, the CFC’s 2019 Award for Creative Excellence, and the 2025 Canadian Screen Awards for Best Writing, Drama Series and Best Drama Series for the first season of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent. Tassie lives in Toronto with her daughter Sadie and her dog Alice.

 

John Rowley (music supervisor, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent)

John Rowley is a leading Canadian composer and music supervisor. He is known for his composing work on the award-winning series Pretty Hard Cases, Mary Kills People, his supervision work on Letterkenny, Corner Gas: The Movie, Rookie Blue, and composing and supervision work on the feature film Defendor, starring Woody Harrelson. John is currently the music supervisor for the hit series Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.

John serves as President of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada (SCGC) and is a founding member of the Guild of Music Supervisors of Canada (GMSC.) He has taught courses at Sheridan College on the business of music for emerging audiovisual composers. He was also a regular contributor to the Canadian Films Centre’s Slaight Family Music Lab, providing Lab participants with insights into composer agreements, music rights, union issues and royalty remuneration. John also serves as a director on the board of SOCAN and the on board of the Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

Heather Gardner (moderator) (music supervisor/founder, Peachy Keen Music Supervision // president, Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada)

With professional training in piano performance and arts management, Heather’s ears intimately understand the relationship between song and picture, and how to harmoniously capture that magic within any budget parameters. Heather balances her right brain creativity with meticulous left brain attention to detail, allowing for a seamless licensing process from concept to contract to cue sheet. After over 17 years in music supervision, her credits span worldwide television series, feature films, TV movies, advertising campaigns, and video games, garnering her three Canadian Sync Award wins and many more nominations.

Heather serves as President of the Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada, a non-profit organization with the mission to promote the craft of music supervision in Canada. In 2025, she was named to Billboard Canada’s inaugural 40 Under 40 list, honouring the next generation of innovators shaping the future of music. When not falling down a musical rabbit hole or (kindly) harassing folks for clearances, Heather is a semi-professional theme parker, mozzarella stick enthusiast, and mom of two small hooligans and one old cocker spaniel.

 

SYNC + CLEAR, Presented by LoveCat Music (10:50am -11:50am)

Like famed investigators Indiana Jones or Sherlock Holmes, music supervisors, and copyright owners, must go to the ends of the earth to hunt down approval parties or chase clearances. Part “what not to do” and part storytelling, our panelists share licensing nightmares and the most bizarre circumstances they’ve encountered in the name of locking in a song. The audience will leave with a heightened appreciation of the P.I. work that folks must do to get the deal done…. and with a long list of tips and tricks to ensure that they don’t fall prey to these licensing dealbreakers!

Angelika Heim (she/her) is a partner at Stohn Hay Cafazzo Heim Finlay LLP and represents clients in the business of entertainment, media and digital content.  She is recognized as a leading practitioner of entertainment law by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in Canada.

Angelika works closely with clients in the creative industries, advising on transactional matters, disputes and business strategies related to film, television, branded content, talent agreements, music recording and publishing, digital content, book publishing, and intellectual property protection.

Katie Seline (music supervisor/partner/managing director, Music Rights Clearance)

Katie is Partner and Managing Director at Music Rights Clearance in Montreal. With over 15 years of music licensing experience at companies like MTV, TouchTunes, and Stingray, Katie holds a Master’s Degree in Music Business from NYU, a certificate in Copyright from Harvard, and enjoys kittens, ice cream, big beats, and fuzzy guitars. She is the 2025 Silver Clio Music award winner and the Guild of Music Supervisors Canada Sync Awards winner of Best Advertisement for her work on Doordash “Your Door To More” Campaign. 

Liana Tassone (svp of creative sync licensing, Third Side Music)

With over 15 years of experience in the music industry, Liana’s current role is SVP of Creative Sync Licensing at independent music publisher Third Side Music. She is responsible for pitching TSM represented artists such as SOFI TUKKER, BADBADNOTGOOD, Courtney Barnett, Colin Stetson, Cults, Surf Curse,  Wolf Parade, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Angine de Poitrine to clients in Film, TV, Advertisements, and Trailers.

 

Randy Frisch (president, LoveCat Music)

Randy Frisch is president of independent music publisher LoveCat Music.  Founded in 1999, LoveCat represents a catalog of over 10,000 songs spanning the genres of rock, R&B, pop, hip hop, country, jazz,
dance, K-pop and other world music. Flagship artists include Los Straitjackets, Joe Marson, The Go Getters, Evan Olson, Latin Soul Syndicate and Reagan Youth.  Randy also serves as executive producer of a new feature length documentary about Reagan Youth, the iconic NYC 1980s punk band. 

Known for its international artist roster, LoveCat
is one of the most active Latin and Russian music publishers in the business, with writer-artists from Russia, Ukraine, Colombia, Mexico and Ecuador, among numerous other countries. Songs from the LoveCat
catalog have been licensed in a wide range of films and television shows including Roofman, Stranger Things, Deadpool, The Sopranos, Paddington 2, The Devil Wears Prada, and many more.

Victoria Beard (music supervisor, The Wilders)

Victoria is an award-winning, Toronto-based music supervisor at The Wilders and an 18-time Guild of Music Supervisors Awards nominee. She holds a law degree from Australia and began her music supervision career at Rock Steady Music before joining Entertainment One in 2016. When Hasbro acquired eOne in 2019, she continued overseeing music for major entertainment properties. In 2022, she joined The Wilders' team of music supervisors, composers, producers, and songwriters.

Recent credits include the feature films Sweetness, & Sons, Another Other Night, In The Heart of the South, and Nekai Walks; and the television series SkyMed S4 (Paramount+), Wayward (Netflix), and Small Achievable Goals S2 (CBC). She is currently supervising the upcoming CBC series Pihkohowin and Netflix's This Summer Will Be Different.

Cody Partridge (moderator) (music supervisor/president, Pear Tree Music Supervision)

Cody Partridge is a multi-award-winning Music Supervisor and President of Pear Tree Music Supervision. With over a decade of experience in the industry, his 200+ credits help demonstrate his versatility in navigating music clearances and placements over all forms of media. Cody prides himself on constantly finding hidden gems, and never allowing rights holders to go undiscovered. His main objective is to assist a production in creating the project that they envision, and he is happy to facilitate the needs in both a creative and/or administrative capacity as each specific project requires. He is adept at navigating Union implications when placing any affiliated recordings, assuring clients a sound and complete experience in all aspects of authentic music use, regardless if the desire is recognizable or yet to be discovered. Cody is on the Board of Directors and the Vice President of the Canadian Guild of Music Supervisors, helping to support and evolve the community of music supervision.

So, you’ve landed a sync placement – now what?! This panel will dive into suggestions and best practices for maximizing the impact of a sync placement and leveraging that momentum into additional career opportunities. Whether background use or viral music moment, all artists and music representatives will take something away from this informative session that covers metrics, royalties, cross-promotion and audience building.

Alexandra Petkovski aka FJØRA (composer, producer, artist and songwriter)

Called "a haunting artist to watch" by Rolling Stone, Alexandra Petkovski is a prolific composer, producer, artist, and songwriter who creates genre-defying musicfor Film/TV, Video Game and multimedia spaces. Her love of sonic genre bending and blending is heard across her custom score and soundtrack work. Since she was a child, Alex has always loved the art of storytelling through music.

Winner of Best Composer Pitch at the 76th Berlinale Junior Executive Talent Slate 2026, multi Hollywood Music in Media and Music + Sound Awards winner, 2025 Guild of Music Supervisors Awards Canada Artist/Songwriter of the Year nominee and Best Original Song Winner at the 20th Annual Game Audio Network Guild Awards, Alex’s music spans across platforms like Fortnite, American Horror Story, Disney+, Sitges International Film Festival, TIFF, Blumhouse Productions, Netflix, and HBO. Alex's artist project, FJØRA, has become widely recognized across music for the screen. Her coined genre -"cinematronic"- combines elements of electronic and cinematic styles.

Andrea Higgins (founder/lead music supervisor, AHA Sound & Vision)

Andrea Higgins is the founder and lead music supervisor at AHA Sound & Vision. With more than 20 years of award-winning experience, she is known for her creative, detail-driven approach to music supervision, licensing, and sonic storytelling across film and television.

Her recent credits include Ripple, Anna Pigeon, The Trades, Workin' Moms, Wynonna Earp and Heartland. Andrea currently serves as Co–Vice President of the Guild of Music Supervisors Canada and was the recipient of the 2024 Canadian Sync Award for Best Sync Soundtrack – Episodic (Drama) for Heartland Season 17. She has also received multiple Canadian Sync Award nominations, including three nominations in 2026.





Kyle Merkley (music supervisor/music editor, SONGCHOPPER)

Kyle Merkley, aka SONGCHOPPER, is a Music Supervisor and Music Editor with credits on over 1,000 episodes of television, including The Office Movers, The Lake, Ruby and the Well, Murdoch Mysteries, and Hudson & Rex.

Kyle’s musical collaborations have led him to work with Top 24 contestants from Canadian Idol, appear on Entertainment Tonight Canada, and receive a nationally broadcast “thumbs down” on MuchMusic's disBAND. 











 

Mike Rocha (director of film & TV membership, SOCAN)

Mike Rocha is Director of Film & TV Membership at SOCAN. Rocha is both a creator and an entrepreneur. As a composer, music supervisor, producer, and recording studio owner, he has more than 20 years of experience in the Toronto music, film, TV, and advertising industries, bringing both creative perspective and practical business insight.

At SOCAN, he supports audiovisual members through outreach and relationship-building across the screen-based music community, and by turning member feedback into clear, practical improvements. His goals are to identify root issues, drive solutions, and make things better for SOCAN’s AV members.

Warren Hastings (music licensing & sync manager, Sub Pop Records)

Warren Hastings is a music licensing and creative sync manager at Sub Pop Records, working across both the label and publishing rosters. His placements span all media types, including The Sims 4, Fortnite, High Potential, Airwallex, and I Know What You Did Last Summer — the latter currently nominated for Best Sync at the 2026 Libera Awards. Warren focuses on expanding placements into broader partnerships — socials, marketing, remixes — that maximize value for both artists and productions. Outside of work, Warren has been producing music for almost 10 years. He also enjoys comedy shows, biking, and is a burgeoning gaymer.

Danica Bansie (moderator) (music supervisor, PIRATE SOUND)

Danica Bansie is a Canadian music supervisor, sync strategist, and creative consultant working at the intersection of culture, storytelling, and visual media. With 10+ years of music industry experience across marketing, music supervision, sync licensing, advertising, artist development, and creative strategy, she specializes in building culturally resonant and commercially impactful music partnerships across film, television, and branded media. A lifelong music obsessive with roots in indie music culture, Danica has built a career spanning music journalism, live music photography, digital marketing, artist discovery, and creative music strategy, shaping a globally minded, culturally driven approach to sync and storytelling.


SYNC + DISCOVER (1:55pm - 2:55pm)

With a starter DAW in nearly everyone’s pocket, creating and releasing music has never been more widely accessible. Consequently, music supervisors are receiving more music from ever -  from around the world. How does one break through the noise and get heard? This panel focuses on both the tangible and intangible steps that artists, songwriters, and their teams can take to attract the attention of music supervisors, and how to go beyond cold emails to build real relationships. We’ll cover discoverability, best pitching practices, and when and how sync agencies or representation might be the answer. Above all, our panelists will discuss the importance of authenticity in the music itself, and the quality needed to truly be sync-ready.

Claudia Campos Jugo (account executive, DISCO)

Claudia Campos Jugo is an Account Executive at DISCO.ac, where she helps music teams streamline their workflows and stay in sync. With a background in artist management and deep expertise in metadata, she specializes in bridging the gap between creative and operational teams. Claudia is passionate about helping users unlock the full potential of DISCO to connect siloed processes and keep projects moving smoothly. She's excited to bring her perspective to our workshop and demystify the tools that power modern music collaboration.










Eugene Galushchenko (founder/CEO, onestop music)

Eugene Galushchenko (Barcelona, Spain) is a seasoned entrepreneur and music industry veteran with over 20 years of experience spanning music production, licensing, and synchronization. As the Founder & CEO of the European-based Faded Media, a leading in-store music licensing company, and the US-based onestop music, a boutique sync agency representing an eclectic roster of independent artists, labels, and publishers, Eugene has consistently demonstrated his ability to operate on a global scale.

Throughout his career, Eugene has been at the forefront of the evolving intersection between music and business. His deep understanding of both the creative and commercial sides of the industry has established him as a trusted leader in delivering straightforward yet creative music solutions. From his early days as a DJ and music producer to his role as a successful entrepreneur and executive, Eugene’s career exemplifies adaptability, innovation, and a deep knowledge of the fast-changing industry.

Sam Storch (director, sync - ads, Concord Music Publishing)

Sam Storch serves as Director, Sync specializing in advertising at Concord Music Publishing. In her tenure with the company, she has championed artists from CMP’s roster through placements for brands including Google, Ford, McDonalds, and Starbucks among others. From household names like Creedence Clearwater Revival and Rodgers & Hammerstein to burgeoning indie artists and writers specializing in sync, Sam approaches the potential for every artist’s songs with precision and intention.

 

Telan Wong (head of music supervision + licensing, Vapor Music/Long Division)

Telan is the head of music supervision + licensing at Vapor Music & Long Division in Toronto. With a foundation in classical cello and a Bachelor’s degree in contemporary music, her approach blends instinct and craft. In advertising, Telan’s licensed for brands including Starbucks, IKEA, TD Bank, SickKids Hospital. Her recent Film/TV credits include Bet, Mistletoe Murders Season 2 & Acting Good Season 4. 

Warren Bray (music supervisor, Grayson Music)

Warren Bray is a music supervisor, musician, composer, and DJ, currently working at Grayson Music in Toronto. Born and raised in Scarborough Ontario, Warren has been playing music and reading album liner notes since he was a kid. He has over a decade of experience in the licensing world and has written music for commercials, film and TV as well. Warren is also the musical director and bassist of Odario Williams’s band and is currently recording with his own six-piece instrumental soundtrack / prog band RØISEN.

Vincent Degiorgio (moderator) (president, CYMBA Music Publishing)

Vincent Degiorgio is a music lover.

Vince’s resume includes record label owner, renowned club DJ, remixer, producer and songwriter. His creations have led him to writing seminal classics for the likes of HiNRG dance artists like Tapps, dance-pop hitmakers Love Inc. and retro-twisted chart toppers for the likes of Caro Emerald from the Netherlands.

The winner of 4 SOCAN # 1 awards, dozens of gold and platinum awards and an IFPI “Million Album Award”, his songs have been placed in innumerable film and TV productions. He was also responsible for signing N Sync to RCA Records, where he held the position of VP, International A&R.

Today, Vince oversees Cymba’s operations, with a focus on cultivating the brilliant talent of its roster. He also helms its sister company, Intercym, home to the international catalogues Cymba is proud to represent from South Africa, France, Finland, Italy and Sweden.

When not sleeping at his computer, Vince is an obsessive tennis and hockey fan and lives for golden age movie soundtracks, Philly Soul and jazz. His desk will always have a Stacey Kent or Wes Montgomery album somewhere on it.


SYNC + PRESENTATIONS (3:00pm - 4:30pm)

A selection of Sync Awards/Sound + Vision sponsors will present their catalogues to attending music supervisors and audience members. These labels, publishers, and sync agencies will show and tell their repertoire in five minutes, providing real-life examples of best pitching practices.
