Celebrating the craft of music supervision
in filmed media with the Sync community in Canada
set for June 9th at The El Mocambo
March 31, 2022 (Toronto) – The Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada (GMSC) and Canadian Music Week (CMW) have partnered again to present the 2022 Canadian Sync Awards!
Celebrating music supervisor excellence and the Sync. community across Canada, the ‘Sync Awards’ will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the El Mocambo, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
“The GMSC is thrilled to present the Awards, once again, with CMW in its 40th illustrious year. We can’t wait to see our fellow sync community colleagues at this in-person event that celebrates the achievements in the craft of music supervision and our sync. community”, enthuses Michael A. Perlmutter, President of GMSC. “The industry’s growth in the past few years has been extraordinary – music in filmed media has become an integral part of conversations amongst industry professionals and fans, around the world!”
The purpose of the GMSC is threefold: to create awareness amongst production executives of this increasingly significant role in the production of all filmed media projects; to educate emerging Supervisors and create community; and share knowledge amongst colleagues in Canada and work on industry issues, challenges and changing landscapes together to foster solutions for all parties.
“We ‘watch’ screens with our eyes and our ears. So, the boom of Hollywood North rings loud in our music industry. Music supervisors do it all on a project, from corralling composers to pitching songs to budgets and deal-making – all with the aim of creating a mood. This is a night to honour the artists of music supervision in film, TV, documentaries, interactive and advertising. They choose the music that makes you feel”, enthuses Neill Dixon, President of Canadian Music Week.
CMW and GMSC are proud to announce a significant sponsorship by Music Publishers Canada (MPC) for the Sync Awards. “MPC is pleased to sponsor the 2022 Canadian Sync Awards. Music publishers are the proud partners of music supervisors and the producers of screen based content. It is so exciting to be able to celebrate the success of the last year in sync with this in-person event”, says Margaret McGuffin, CEO of MPC.
